About The Art of Bob
I had been a traditional artist for years. I've tried different mediums, but pencil drawing was the one I enjoyed most. I liked the simplicity of just using paper and pencil and the incredible amount of detail that can be achieved with enough time and patience.
I suddenly noticed that pieces were taking me longer and longer and ended up not completing many. Some have sat unfinished for years. I would occasionally poke at it adding details here and there, but never had enough time to finish them. They were for my own practice and study, so I wasn't holding up any commissions or income. Years later, I got into graphic design using a Mac and Adobe products such as Illustrator and Photoshop. I especially enjoyed Photoshop and eventually got into photo retouching and compositing for various projects at the company I worked for. Time went on and the graphics business slowed down, but I was itching to get into drawing and painting again. I didn't really have the room for a drawing table and supplies to be out, but I didn't want to abandon art altogether. So, I bought a drawing tablet and stylus and began painting on the computer in Photoshop. The freedom was very enjoyable. I can "undo" often and place different areas of a painting on layers so as not to affect work I had already done. So, I decided to put together my love of animals and love of drawing and delve into pet portraits. I've enjoyed the process very much and hope to continue into the foreseeable future! |
